Annual Charity Pancake Race
The Annual Woking shopMobility Relay Pancake Race was held on Tuesday 5th March 2019 in Jubilee Square, Woking.
We had numerous teams of 4 people running from local businesses in and around Woking, including The Lightbox, Woking Borough Council, Sainsburys, York Road Project, and Seafare Fish & Chips.
The theme for the event this year was Sport, and participants were invited to dress up. The winners for Best Fancy Dress were York Road Project. The overall winners gaining 1st Place were the Marketing Dept at Woking Borough Council.
It was fantastic to receive such great support from the local community, and Simon from Eagle Radio did a fantastic job as compare for our event.
Our thanks also to Cllr Will Forster our Woking Mayor for his attendance, and support, and to AV Harper who provided the PA system.
A special mention goes to Seafare Fish & Chips for their generous donation of £250 towards our cause.
A huge thank you to all those involved, including all our sponsors who have enabled us to raise £1068.02 for Woking Shopmobility. This is a fantastic result for us!
Woking Rotary Swimathon
We participated in the Rotary Club of Woking Swimathon held at Woking Pool in the Park on Sunday 13th October.
We kept our team name short and simple as 'Team Shopmobility', and proved at a slight disadvantage on the day swimming as a team of 5 instead of 6. This however did not hinder us and we achieved a respectable 100 lengths between us.
The team participants' ages ranged from the youngest at 10 years, the oldest at 81 years !
Special praise goes to young Rachel (aged 10) for her enthusiam, hard work, and fantastic swimming! Well done, you were an absolute star!
As a group we managed to raise £650 in sponsorship (excluding gift aid), which is a fantastic result.
